This model started life as the rusty remains of an early Mamod SA1 with about 1/3 of the parts missing - mainly bodywork. I made or bought replacements for most of the missing parts, converting it into a pickup type vehicle in the process. As well as replacing missing parts, I also made a few modifications to some existing parts. The main mods were: shortening the wheelbase by about 30mm, a gas burner to replace the meths original, and a gear type transmission (using Meccano gears). There are other minor mods also.
There is a blog of the build of this model here.
The engine and boiler details are the same as the SA1 so I won't repeat them here. Instead of the 2 stage drive band transmission, this model has a 3 stage transmission using Meccano gears for the 1st two stages and Meccano chain and sprockets for the 3rd stage. The pickup bed is scratch built using brass and wood. The butane tank for the burner sits in the bed.
